So basically you need: 100k (ish) to buy your first truck. 180k to upgrade your garage to +2 slots. 100k (ish) to buy your second truck. I've been running quick jobs since Step 1 (buy truck) to save up for the garage upgrade, because quick jobs have these benefits: No fuel costs. No maintenance costs.
Regarding driving other vehicles, you just need to download and then install them from a web site. There are a lot more available for ETS2 than ATS but there are a few I have seen for ATS. Cars and buses, cars you just drive and nothing else but the buses have extra mods which add passengers so you can pick up and deliver passengers.

Honestly, most people driving cars in ETS2 Multiplayer really piss me off. They ignore every single rule (just as some truck drivers), and think they are immortal. So they come crashing through a massive traffic jam with 160km/h. Ruining the game for people who are playing more seriously. I don't see the appeal of taking things so seriously.
